Rolling in the Deep

Before we do anything else, I just want to point out that I LOVE Adele’s music. Like I said this morning on the LIVE 105 Morning Mob, I got all hipster & said I liked Adele before EVERYONE started playing her stuff on the radio. Truth is, most Canadian radio stations were late to the Adele party. Just like they missed the boat on Amy Winehouse.

Yes, Winehouse is a trainwreck, but so is Keith Richards. Besides, Back to Black was an AMAZING album. CHR, AC radio, how the HELL do you miss out on this stuff continuously? I shake my head sometimes…

They say that imitation is the most sincerest form of flattery. The Beatles covered old Chuck Berry & Little Richards songs, The Stones did Robert Johnson, Buddy Holly and Muddy Waters. But this “Rolling in the Deep” cover shit it too much. It seems anybody with a webcam tosses up their “spin” on the song. Lately though, this has been getting all the attention:

Why modern rock kicks classic rock’s ass….

So we’ve been in a wee bit of a dog fight with the classic rock guys since we fired up this pig back in October. I’m cool with it, competition is good, the winners end up being the listeners because there’s more choice out there. I’m not a strictly “modern rock” snob, I do have some love for the classics, but the thing is about the classics is that they’ve been played over and over and over and over again. I love being at LIVE 105 because we’re constantly busting out the new shit, mixed in with some awesome essentials. I know some people have a preference, they’re either on the modern side of things, or on the classic side of things. But before you make that final choice, think about this. If you’re a fan of modern rock, chances are you’ll NEVER see something like this on youtube:
